LISTEN NOW! When one man had a burning desire to make cinematic productions, he began to see repeated doors open up, one after another, when he simply asked God for it to happen. From his own words, Brian Ivie, describes how an ad in the LA Times informed him of a South Korean pastor that was rescuing unwanted children. Ivie initially saw this as a gateway to a life of purpose when the opportunity to complete a documentary of the story presented itself.
Ivie shares, “I thought I was a Christian before I went. Because I was an America. Because I wasn’t a Muslim…I thought I was a Christian because I didn’t smoke cigarettes….” Ivie continues, “This whole deception is that we think we’re Christians because we’re not other things…” When Ivie arrived in South Korea, he realized that the story he came to capture was much bigger than he originally assumed. What he didn’t know was that he would soon become part of the story.
Ivie opens up about his encounters with Pastor Lee, “This guy was real; because real people get birthed out of pain. This is what we all look for. The reality was, Pastor Lee was a man who wasn’t afraid to be known, and I was…” As Ivie progressed through this journey of capturing Pastor Lee’s life, he encountered the reality of what Pastor Lee’s life was all about. “Jesus Christ became you, on the Cross, so that you could become Him”. Ivie’s expectations had been surpassed. “I never imagined what would actually happen when I would fly to South Korea; because I was going there to film a movie about saving Korean babies off the street and I had no idea that God was going to save me.”
After traveling back home and the movie production completed, with the understanding of the Cross, Ivie returned back to South Korea to create an entirely different film. “This time, it was going to be about God’s love and how He rescues broken and lost people and that they in turn rescue broken and lost people.” What Ivie captured can be fully seen in the film, The Drop Box. Allow your faith and understanding of Jesus’ love challenge and encourage you with the full story in Ivie’s own words, and so much more. Also shared in this segment: redemption, hope, love, faith, orphans, and love. John and Steve shared in this segment.
