Success It’s a Mind Game: Ohio Center for Sports Psychology Mental Skills for Success Part 1
Did you know that success is a mind game? If you can’t win in your mind, then you can’t win anywhere else! Winning is a matter of your mind and your thoughts. We look at sports figures to see how we can be successful in our lives by what we think. This is necessary for your success!
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” Proverbs 23:7
Because of this, you can look at someone’s life and know what they are thinking! You know when someone is thinking about failure because their life is failing, but when they are thinking success, then you see them either making steps towards success, or they are in that place of success.
Ohio Center for Sports Psychology works to help athletes by learning life skills, and achieving high levels of performance, and shares a brief list of mental skills we all need for success which is not just for athletes. The first mental skill is to choose and maintain a positive attitude! It takes you deciding to be positive, and no matter what happens, you can maintain that positive outlook if you have decided to stay positive. Don’t let your circumstance dictate your feelings and don’t question in the dark times what God made clear to you in the light! You have the power to decide to be positive! It is important to be selective of who and what you listen to, if you listen to negative talk all day then don’t be surprised if you have a negative outlook. But if you listen to positive talk, instead you will be uplifted and inspired to maintain your positive outlook — change who you spend time with if they are constantly negative. And as a believer, we are called to influence those around us with a positive attitude! We are called to be light influencers.
The second mental skill you need is to maintain a high-level of self-motivation! You can’t depend on others to motivate you, so you must find out what motivates you. What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning? Your vision needs to be big enough that it gets you out of bed! Once you have your vision set and you know what motivates you, you will need to maintain that motivation by reminding yourself of your vision, sometimes daily. It should be so exciting for you that it gets you out of bed and makes it hard to go to bed every night! In the VFNKB Community, we have created an environment to give you tips for motivating yourself, and we have new content available almost daily to bring you positive motivation for your daily life. The third mental skill you need is to set high, realistic goals. Looking at today’s culture, people do not always set goals that are high enough. People are doing just enough to get by, but it is time to start setting the standard high and believe again. You may not want to set high goals because you are afraid of failure and fear what others would say about your failure. You must believe that no matter what that you will set your goals realistically and aim high! Even if you fail, you know you tried and that you can get up and try again. You don’t want to get to the end of your life and regret that you didn’t achieve or try to do anything. Successful people decide to do what it takes to meet their goals no matter what even if they are alone in meeting the goal. You must give yourself time to achieve your realistic goals. Your goals need to be measurable, and you track it as you realistically meet the goal a little at a time. Be sure to give yourself partial credit as you work towards completing your goal and celebrate each step as you meet your goal a little at a time!
You must believe that success is for you and not define yourself by others success! What does success mean for you? What are your goals? We are here to help you to succeed in every area of your life. Your success is our success, our success is your success, and our success together is Kingdom success! We want to hear from you, write to us in the VFNKB Community or at [email protected].
